Communications Professional

I have spent the bulk of my career in Higher Education, facilitating students to achieve their dreams. Helping to plan, budget and execute initiatives from student organizations to large scale University campaigns. Recently, I've been working with training, managing, marketing and placing IT consultants for a local Atlanta firm. I am always learning new things and pushing myself to grow personally and professionally. I love working with and interfacing with diverse groups of people. I enjoy public speaking, and all aspects of marketing communications. I also love to flex my creative muscles designing, planning and executing interactive campaigns.
In my free time I am a fitness advocate, Peloton afficianado and Dog mom. I am looking forward to the next chapter!

After 15 years in higher education, I decided it was time for me to branch out of my comfort zone a bit and find a new set of challenges. I truly loved my students and colleagues, however there was far too little opportunity within the higher education field. I found a challenging position in the business world were I could utilize my higher ed talents in a corporate environment. I was able to learn the key differences between the world of higher education and the business world. I found myself enjoying the challenges of not only learning new norms and vocabulary but understanding that I could apply nearly all of my previous experiences into a business context. I now find it's time for a new challenge, I'd like to be able to find a larger organization to grow with until the end of my career.

High performing teams have a high level of trust and respect in them. Nothing makes a team deliver on its goals more than knowing that the members can trust and rely on the others in the team. Achieving this level of trust is not easy, however with the appropriate level of listening, and relationship building, along with honesty and accountability, over time trust can be achieved and teams can perform at incredibily high efficiencies.

I believe I am a very qualified candidate because I know what it takes to deliver results. I believe in setting clear, time bound, and measurable goals. I am a strong believer in team work and know that building relationships are key to delivering results. I believe that listening first is always better than talking first, and that creating influence in an organization is much more important than a title. My organization, communication, managment, budgeting and leadership skills have been well honed over my 15 year career. Regularly, I need to make the largest impact while adhering to a tight budget.

Being the key leader for the department of Student life, I've created hundereds of different events on and off campus. Each event requires a budget, a project plan, a marketing plan, and then the execution of the event. These events are conducted generally by a small team of 3 to 4 people working together to deliver the event to campus. Our key performance indicators for these events are generally attendance, as well as quantitative survey results. Our marketing plans deal with selecting the right place, the content of the event (the product), and how we will promote the event. (social media, email, on campus signage, etc.) as well as the pricing for the event. We must ensure that the student fees are able to cover the events and ensure that there are no overages there as well. So as you can see the planning for an event deals with the marketing mix directly, as well as the different channels of promotion and advertising.

Culture in any organization is so critical to the success of that organization. I am looking for a clan-based culture where I can form relationships and build trust within a team. I am looking for a long term career position. The best fit for me would be a company that invests in its people, that understands that true efficiency and effectiveness lie within the enablement of people to showcase their individual talents to solve the organizations problems in a transparent and open environment. I'm looking for a company that shares my values of integrity, accountability and honesty. As well as an understanding of work/life balance. I provide my whole self each day I come to work, and I work very hard, but I also value family time very much.

Outside of work, I enjoy fitness activities. I am a Peloton afficionado, I participate in the cycling, running and strength training classes. I also enjoy to running competitively. I've run over 5 marathons in Akron, Cleveland, and Wisconsin and my goal is to qualify for the Boston Marathon within the next year.
